The Misery Corner
2024
The Misery Corner was a secret space constructed in childhood, woefully named. Consisting of a small chair in a curtained bedroom cupboard, I usually went there to hide or sulk. It was a space of cathartic contemplation. I am interested in humans connections to spaces, the comfort they derive from them and the process of mourning when outgrown. A remembered space often is symbolic of a time or feeling, we yearn for these lost spaces the same way we long to return to times of comfort and certainty.
